Thoroughly cleaning during the springtime can be quite hectic or frustrating. Getting rid of items you’ve stopped using, items you don’t recall purchasing, but being liberated from unwanted items can be very relieving to oneself and their space.

Some tips for spring cleaning planning:

  • Get rid of items that haven’t been used in years (eg: old clothes, books, toys, etc) by either throwing them out or donating them

  • Differentiate if something is really sentimental and has a purpose or if it is something you can get rid of

  • Find the best way to organise your belongings via shelves/boxes/folders

  • Create a to do list to keep track of what you’re cleaning

  • Clean from one area at a time as you work your way around the room/house, ensuring you don’t waste time going from one point to the next

  • Clean with somebody. This can help with communication skills, teamwork, prevents you from being alone, and it gets the job done quicker

  • Take your time - you don’t want to overdo yourself and get bored within the first few hours of cleaning
