The mind of a shopaholic

  • Shops to: feel better about yourself

People tend to overshop in order to feel better about themselves, however, due to the moving standards in the fashion world many never feel better no matter how much they shop. Then it just becomes a cycle of endless shopping and unhealthy overstimulation. Try to avoid this by giving yourself a budget, and maybe even lower it every month to control yourself.

  • To avoid dealing with something important

Whilst other people might overshop to feel better, others do it to escape reality. For many, shopping can be a way to forget about their problems, or to avoid difficult situations they might be in. Remember though, that these situations are inevitable and eventually you will have to deal with it. Don’t resort to shopping, instead face it.

  • To soothe your mood

People shop to repair their mood, and lift their spirits. The small feeling of enthusiasm shopping gives creates a positive day ahead. The truth is however, that this feeling doesn’t last, the dread or guilt you might be feeling will rush back.
