Milan Fashion Week
Ciao! Milan Fashion Week has arrived. On the half-hour, the digitally-oriented schedule was filled with brands, starting with Missoni, Alberta Ferretti, and Kim Jones' highly awaited Fendi ready-to-wear debut. Other MFW veterans like Moschino, Max Mara, and Marni, as well as newcomers like former Gucci designer Daniel Del Core, participated in the co-ed Fashion Week. Who wasn’t included in the lineup? Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Jil Sander, and Versace are only a few of the big players. Donatella Versace has set a March 5 launch date, and Luke and Lucie Meier of Jil Sander revealed their collection on March 7.
Paris Fashion Week
If ready-to-wear shows aim to sell products, the haute couture shows in Paris, held twice a year in January and July, aim to sell the dream. The few designers working in this rarefied space came together once again during the Spring-Summer 2021 season, which took place from January 25 to 28, this time virtually, to parade their most fantastical creations. Although the theatrical collections normally involve lavish runway productions, world-building has become more complicated —- but not impossible —- due to the coronavirus pandemic's restrictions.
London Fashion Week
In the fashion world, London is associated with youth, colour, vibrancy, and creativity. Even amid a lockdown, the spirit remains, and we must applaud the innovative resilience. Check out the best look from London Fashion Week right now.
JW Anderson:
There's no question that what Jonathan Anderson planned (and curated) for fall 2021 will be discussed in future career retrospectives. The clothes were seen alongside pieces by artists Dame Magdalene Odundo and Shawanda Corbett in the Juergen Teller–shot photos, which were far from a typical runway.
New York Fashion Week
This season, most of the collections streamed from the comfort of fashion editors', shoppers', and fans' homes. On Valentine's Day, New York Fashion Week began with Jason Wu's live-streamed runway show, followed by virtual presentations and videos from Markarian (the brand behind Dr Jill Biden's inauguration look) and Imitation of Christ, a long-time Fashion Week highlight. On Monday, there was a day of menswear shows before the calendar was packed with ready-to-wear shows—look for Anna Sui, Adam Lippes, Collina Strada, Jonathan Simkhai, A Potts, and hundreds more.
